Step away from the scales

Something for you to think about.....

Success is not just a number on the scales or clothing label.

How many times have you felt like you've done everything right all week only to step on the scale and see a disappointing number?

A few times I bet....

And after a few weeks, you start to wonder whether it's even worth it.

But let me tell you something

Success is the achievement of living with maximum energy and having built the habits that make good, healthy choices natural to you.

When you choose to eat healthy and you choose to exercise instead of doing nothing that is achievement.

When you eat and move solely for weight loss, you don't appreciate the positive things that exercise and better eating provides every single day.

Things like:

- Better mood

- More confidence

- Better quality of life

- Leaner, stronger body

- Less pain

- More energy

And this can all happen within 1-2 weeks of just starting a coaching programme.

The problem is that when you exercise and diet for a lower weigh-in each week, you can't see the progress you're making.

And when you don't see progress on the scale, you stop taking action.

But progress is happening. Every single time you make a different choice than you normally would.

Look, the scales are a great tool but not THE best tool.

Did you know your scale weight fluctuates up to 5lbs in one day!

This is due to:

· Weight of food and drink

· Water loss from exercise

· Water gain from menstrual cycles

· Water retention from high sodium intake

· Weight of non-voided bowel contents 💩

The number on the scales WILL go up even after a day (or 7) of perfect ‘nutrition’

Instead I recommend doing these things....

Check the mirror. Do you like what you see?

Your measurements. Are you seeing inches lost?

Pictures. Are you keeping a log of progress pictures?

Clothing. Are they looser or are you buying smaller sizes?

How you feel. More energy, growing confidence, leaner and less jiggly?

What does this mean? It means the scales are not the be all and end all of progress.

So from today stop chasing after the number on the scales and start focusing on habit development if you want to be happier.

Eat whole real natural foods 80% of the time and drink lots of water

Add in short burst resistance (bodyweight, kettlebells, free weights) workouts and cut down on the marathon cardio sessions

Cut back on alcohol consumption, get a good 7-8 hours sleep

Get social support, be accountable to someone, set a goal with a deadline and hit it!!!

If you found this useful, feel free to share on your socials. Spread the word.
